Iran’s ‘Oblivion’ grabs award in India

Iranian short ‘Oblivion’ has grabbed an award at this year’s edition of the Shahu International Film Festival in India.

Directed by Fatemeh Mohammadi, ‘Oblivion’ won the Second Best Film award at the 2nd edition of the Indian event.

Produced by Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the short film depicts the challenges facing old people.

“Old people are passed into oblivion when their loved ones forget about them,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The film has attended several global events, including the Phoenix Film Festival, the Buffalo International Film Festival, the Post Alley Film Festival, all in the US, as well as the Mercy to Universe International Short Film Competition in Turkey.

It has also managed to receive four other awards so far.

The 2019 Shahu International Film Festival took place in the Indian city of Pune on April 5-7.
